Brussels, 18 November 2025
On Tuesday, November 18th, CluBE participated in the latest online session of the HABITABLE Project, the European Alliance of Centres of Vocational Excellence for Sustainable Habitat. The HABITABLE project addresses the growing shortage of workers trained in digital and green transition skills by strengthening collaboration between VET providers and an international network of Centres of Vocational Excellence. It promotes inclusive education and VET training, supporting both student training and professional re-skilling within a dynamic habitat-sector skills ecosystem.
During the online session, Eleni Papista, Head of the Clean Technologies & Hydrogen Department at CluBE, introduced the Green Skills for Hydrogen project, one of Europe’s key initiatives and dynamic projects for developing hydrogen-related skills and education. She underlined its objectives, key activities, and its mission to address the growing need for qualified professionals across the hydrogen value chain.
A central focus of her presentation was the Hydrogen Summer ScH₂ool, a flagship training programme developed and implemented within the Green Skills for Hydrogen project at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. The event provides a comprehensive learning experience designed for students and professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge of hydrogen technologies. The training programme has been recognized as a successful Business Education Partnership (BEP) within the HABITABLE project, identified as one of Greece’s top BEPs, for its strong alignment with future skills needs, contribution to vocational excellence, innovation, and workforce development in the hydrogen sector.
The presentation underlined the importance of aligning education with industry needs, responding to emerging hydrogen skills needs, fostering collaboration between academia and businesses, and preparing the next generation of professionals to lead the transition towards a sustainable hydrogen economy.
Through this participation, the Green Skills for Hydrogen project and the Hydrogen Summer ScH₂ool strengthen their role in European cooperation for vocational excellence, supporting the broader vision of strengthening skills and sustainability across the clean energy sector.
