First ever H2 VET Forum at Spa Francorchamps

Last Friday, the 10th of May 2024, the first-ever H2 VET Forum was held at the incredible Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. The day was filled with detailed workshops and talks that attracted hydrogen enthusiasts from all sectors.

The first day was opened by Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, who started with an inspiring introduction, presenting not only the H2 VET Forum but also insisting on the importance of events like these that help bring forward the concretization of hydrogen upskilling and reskilling initiatives. Later on, talks were held to reiterate the what’s and how’s of hydrogen and their accompanied benefits to then move on to the role education plays in the development of the hydrogen sector, more specifically, the indispensable and necessary role of skill development, training, etc., to better prepare the future workers of the hydrogen world.

In the afternoon of the same day, the participants attended another workshop which, on the other hand, focused on the themes of hydrogen storage, safety and mobility, highlighting the important role they play in hydrogen development.

The event, which spanned over two days, was a result of a collaboration between Hydrogen Europe, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the Circuit of Spa Francorchamps s.a, The Automotive Skills Alliance Project, and our project. It undoubtedly gave hydrogen fans an unforgettable experience, particularly in the afternoon of the second day, which is when participants bore witness to a truly incredible sight: hydrogen-powered race cars!

Hydrogen fans and race car aficionados alike made the most out of this event to not only further their knowledge on current and future initiatives for hydrogen education but also to enjoy the company of like-minded participants ready to take the next step in hydrogen production on a European scale!
